About this role

Grant Thornton Australia is looking for an Associate or Senior Associate, Data Analytics to join our Financial Advisory team in Sydney.

As part of our Financial Advisory practice, you will collaborate with other areas of the business, gather, extract and analyse data to help provide meaningful and actionable insights and recommendations for the firm's clients.

This role offers a compelling opportunity for a data-driven professional with 1–3 years of experience to deepen their expertise in analytics, and would be ideal for someone who's already worked with data in a commercial setting and is looking to expand their impact through more complex problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and scalable delivery. You will have direct interaction with senior leaders and other key stakeholders, enjoying a diverse workload and being involved in the ongoing strategy and development of this growing team.

While previous professional experience in data analytics would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be provided.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify data sources, gather relevant information, and perform ETL processes

  • Build and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or Python

  • Learn how to provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings

Skills and experience

  • At least 1 year's experience in a similar role

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Adaptable and dynamic approach to work, with ability to pivot between different projects and teams as needed

  • Excellent communication skills, including interpreting requirements of diverse teams and adapting interpersonal style to different audiences

If you're interested in this role but don't feel that you match every single one of our requirements, we would still love to hear from you and explore the unique skillset and attributes that you can bring to the team.
