About the opportunity

Steadfast Group is the largest general insurance broker network and a leading group of insurance underwriting agencies in Australasia, with expanding operations in the US, Asia, and Europe. As the organisation continues to grow, the Head of People Operations will play a critical role in shaping and delivering high-quality, customer-focused HR services that support business success.

This role is central to embedding a service-oriented model across the People function, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring strong governance and compliance. It offers the opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, uplift operational capability, and enhance the employee experience across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the People Service Desk, ensuring timely and consistent advice to employees and leaders.
  • Scope and implement a ticketing system for people enquiries, including SLAs and satisfaction metrics.
  • Develop and embed a Tier 0 and Tier 1 HR service model tailored to business needs.
  • Oversee the development and governance of HR policies, processes, templates, and SOPs.
  • Enhance and manage the WHS strategy and reporting, ensuring compliance and fostering a safety culture.
  • Lead HRIS, data, and analytics capabilities to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner across the People team and Talent Acquisition to improve operational processes and the hire-to-retire experience.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, or Human Resources (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in HR Operations or Shared Services leadership.
  • Proven ability to optimise HR operations, including automation and HRIS implementation.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with various HRIS platforms and data analytics tools.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and conceptual capabilities.
