About the Role

We are based in Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville and currently have a vacancy for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our expanding team in the Mackay area.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and risk management initiatives.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all specific regulatory and funding requirements, including audits.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to maintain financial stability.
  • Ensure compliance with ATO, GST, payroll tax, WorkCover, insurance, and superannuation obligations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and asset management processes.
  • Xero accounting system usage, ensuring data accuracy and efficient workflows.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operational managers and department heads, to enhance financial literacy and accountability.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

About You

We are seeking a confident, experienced and strategic leader with a strong background in financial management within large and complex organisations. You bring:

  • Hands-on experience with Xero and excellent proficiency in Excel/financial modelling.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of compliance obligations with State funding.
  • A qualification in accounting, commerce or business management, and CPA or CA accreditation
