Job responsibilities-

General Operations & Technical Capability

  • Know all the relevant codes, standards, and legislative requirements to deliver robust and efficient technical solutions to staff, managers, and clients.
  • Provide technical and administrative support through engineering calculations, reports, tenders, and construction documentation in accordance with client's standards, building codes, and legislative requirements.
  • Offer timely, accurate expertise and advice on engineering elements of relevant standards and acts, ensuring best value solutions for the team.
  • Review and appraise engineering designs and certification documents to ensure compliance with established procedures and documentation standards.
  • Manage project phases with a clear understanding of assignments, special requirements, and schedules, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high-quality standard.
  • Liaise with engineers, project teams, authorities, and clients, maintaining strong client relationships and providing regular project updates and feedback to Project Leaders.
  • Deliver technical and internal client service excellence, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Monitor and report team performance against agreed timelines, fees, and budgets when acting as a Project Leader.
  • Prepare project reports using agreed templates, ensuring they are technically sound, logical, well-presented, and free from errors in grammar or spelling.
  • Plan and execute discipline-specific professional engineering work, including specification writing, design work, and documentation, in collaboration with other disciplines and with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure projects meet client's quality assurance standards and utilisation targets while satisfying manager expectations.
  • Assist Project Leaders with selected projects, providing progress updates and ensuring their expectations are met.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants, integrating their work as required, and inform the team or Project Leader of any delays or issues.
  • Take necessary actions to ensure the successful accomplishment of assigned tasks, making responsible decisions on technical matters while keeping the Project Leader informed.
  • Provide project updates to clients to ensure positive feedback and foster repeat business opportunities.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of tenders, proposals, and similar submissions, ensuring compliance with client's quality standards and timely delivery.
  • As a Project Leader, register new projects in BST before the end of the week.
  • Assist the team in completing projects on time and within budget.

Knowledge Management

  • Participates in regular project and other organisational meetings and regularly share this knowledge with the team/colleagues to help build and maintain the appropriate capability within the team.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing with team members by providing advice and coaching on all technical aspects of their discipline/area.
  • Promote technical learning amongst team from knowledge derived from regular internal workshops/meetings.
  • Keep an up-to-date operational knowledge of relevant technologies, techniques, skills, legislation, and technical standards.

Integrated Management System (IMS)

  • Ensure all documentation in their sector and at their location is maintained to a level required by the client's IMS and that standards set by the IMS are met.
  • Proactively drive improvement initiatives in conjunction with agreed business plans and assist in the implementation of initiatives within agreed time frames.
  • Actively participate in the organisation's Occupational Health & Safety program and observe the requirements of client's Management Systems.
  • Seek guidance for all new or modified work procedures to ensure that any hazardous conditions, near misses, and injures are reported immediately to Management and advice or assistance is sought before commencing an unfamiliar work practice.
  • Ensure that work practices ensure safety for self and others who may be affected by their conduct in the workplace.
  • Participate in meetings, compliance training, and other environment, health and safety activities as required ensuring that compliance education and training is up to date and completed on time.

Professional Development

  • Attendance at approved seminars, courses and in-house training to develop professional and personal skills.

Required skills, knowledge and Experience-

  • Proven industry experience in the various aspects of electrical, ICT, Comms, security

engineering design with emphasis on successful delivery of discipline projects, including

identifying project risks, problem solving, communicating issues, and delivering solutions.

  • Knowledge and understanding of and ability to apply sustainable (understand Section J),

and cost-effective principles and solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be proficient in using a range of software for calculations, design, simulation, and

documentation, including power system analysis tools such as
ETAP
,
DIgSILENT Power

Factory
, and
PSCAD
.

  • Strong knowledge of
    electrical protection and control systems
    .
  • Experience with electrical design software, including
    AutoCAD
    ,
    Revit
    , and
    SKM

PowerTools
.

  • Familiar with
    SCADA systems
    , electrical grid operations, and
    energy management

systems.

  • Proven experience in managing or leading
    multidisciplinary engineering projects
    .

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to

non-technical stakeholders.

  • Have experience with Microsoft Excel for calculations, Bluebeam Revu for document

collaboration.

  • Be capable of preparing detailed technical reports based on the above tools. Large

project experience in a wide range of market sectors, including Healthcare/Age care

Data centre, Commercial, Education and Defence.

  • Knowledge and understanding of documentation and current issues related to own and

other disciplines, including external sub-consultants.

  • Project accounting and budgeting skills and ability to monitor project budgets.

Experience working with a contractor and MEP Design Consultant and a solid knowledge

of the National Code of Construction (NCC), Australian standards & codes.

  • Excellent team communication skills (written and verbal) and high-level interpersonal

skills.

  • Mentoring/training of other team members
  • Strong project management and client focus

Academic & Trades qualification-

  • 10+ years experiences in Electrical Engineering. Experience gained locally would be highly

advantageous

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Chartered Engineer
  • National Engineering Register (NER)
  • Registration (or eligibility to be registered) in relevant state's professional engineer

register for the building/construction industry (if required).

  • Current Drivers Licence
