About The Role…
A fantastic opportunity exists for a
Woodchop & District Exhibits Event Manager.
Reporting to the Head of Agriculture, and working closely with the Sydney Royal Easter Show (SRES) team, you will enjoy a hands-on approach to delivering our core charter to develop Australian agriculture through competitions, education, and events.
In this role, you will be responsible for the administration planning, coordination and execution of our Woodchop competitions and District Exhibits events. You will work closely with our committees to ensure the successful delivery of this competition. This role does not require you to be an expert in this field however the successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of the industry. In addition, you will be under the guidance of industry experts who will equip you with the necessary knowledge to execute each competition successfully.
The person we seek must have an extensive background in administration, project management skills and experience, ability to monitor and manage budgets and have a strong customer focus. A genuine interest in the agricultural competitions and events is highly advantageous. Your demonstrable administration experience, ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and excellent verbal communication skills will form the basis of your success in this role.
This role is not for the faint hearted and has the responsibility for managing both the Woodchop and District sections, as well as managing the day to day running of the competitions during the Show. In developing and servicing competitions, you will work with established committees, prepare agendas, attend meetings, take minutes and deliver on initiatives and action items resulting from minutes.
Whilst working hours are flexible, the lead-up to and during the Show will require a higher degree of time in the office and weekend work. This is essential for this role.
About You…
To be successful in this role you have:
- Minimum 4 years experience in an event administration role or similar
- Proven experience supporting committees and stakeholders, preferably in an agricultural context
- Sound knowledge of budgeting and financial management
- Experience developing and maintaining procedure manuals and risk assessments
- Microsoft Office Suite applications at an intermediate level
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills,
- Driven passion for providing exceptional customer service
- Proven ability to work in and manage a small team
- Proven ability to problem-solve with tangible results
- Genuine interest in agricultural competitions and events.

We manage the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, the RAS Foundation, Australasian Animal Registry, and the Sydney Showground. The RAS has a team of over 130 full-time staff and an indispensable pool of casual staff who work on the Easter Show, and other Sydney Showground events.
