About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Leading Hand Mechanic ready to make a real impact by overseeing day-to-day operations in our workshop. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, mentoring a team, and ensuring high-quality mechanical servicing and repair outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of qualified mechanics and apprentices
  • Allocate and monitor daily workloads to ensure efficient workshop operations
  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a range of heavy vehicles (including prime movers and trailers)
  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety standards
  • Assist with quoting, job cards, and customer communication as needed
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Skills & Experience

  • Trade qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (Cert III or equivalent)
  • Minimum 4-5 years of mechanic experience is required
  • Proven experience in a heavy vehicle and equipment workshop environment
  • Minimum 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
  • Experience with diagnostic tooling
