We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Control Technician to join our Maintenance Team at Smithton. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for providing technical support, diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical and control equipment, and contributing to process improvements and new projects through the development, modification, installation, and commissioning of electrical control systems and PLC programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Program and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA, and communication systems
• Oversee site-wide electrical systems, ensuring compliance with local standards and regulations
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support operational efficiency
• Utilize Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance activities
• Identify, source, and procure electrical and control equipment as required
• Design and implement plant improvements and modifications to enhance productivity
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in plant electrical and control systems
• Test, install, and calibrate transducers and actuators
• Install and configure variable frequency and servo drives
• Support the training and development of Electricians and Apprentices

Safety and Compliance
You are expected to uphold and practice company safety procedures, including:

• Adhering to Work Health & Safety (WH&S) policies, including safe lifting protocols
• Following established procedures and work instructions
• Maintaining good manufacturing practices and food safety standards

Mandatory Qualifications And Skills

• Current A Class Electrical License
• Electrical Trade Certificate
• Background in continuous process manufacturing

Desirable Qualifications

• Proven experience and/or qualifications in Allen Bradley PLC systems
• Proficiency in RSLogix programming
• Experience with Beckhoff, Siemens, and Omron systems
