The Business
We're a leading café and catering business in the Fortitude Valley and we're looking for a motivated and skilled Chef to join the team. We love what we do, and we know our people are our greatest asset. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing café and catering group and catapult your career while maintaining a great work/life balance. Our operation hours are Monday - Friday daytime hours only, so your hours will be from 5 am – 2 pm daily. No weekend or night work is required.
Who Are You?
We are seeking a switched-on, passionate, and experienced chef to manage the operation of our busy cafe and catering business. You will love the power of fresh ingredients, have a passion for salads and deli-style sandwiches, be experienced in pumping out high-quality corporate catering, and enjoy leading a team of committed workers.
You need to have strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to run a kitchen without fuss and drama, while delivering consistently high-quality food. Some of the key things we're looking for include reliability, positivity, an ability to self-motivate and keep others motivated, and a love for the industry.
Other requirements include:

An applicant should hold relevant industry trade qualifications and have at least 1 year of relevant employment experience

Current HACCP and relevant Food Safety accreditation.

Fast-paced production or catering experience required

High cooking standards with attention to detail

Ensure compliance with QLD food safety regulations

A hands-on-approach to the organisation of our kitchen and day-to-day operations

An ability to follow recipes but also the creativity to produce specials that become cult favourites

High level of interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

Good work ethic including the ability to work under pressure and to schedule

Ability to maintain service and kitchen compliance standards

Strong ability to work autonomously amongst a fast-paced environment

Rostering, ordering, and cost controls

Experience in running, building and nurturing a team. A positive kitchen environment is highly important to us.
