Overview
Mater is seeking a visionary and dynamic human resources executive to take on the newly expanded role of Chief People, Culture and Learning Officer (CPCLO). This critical executive leadership role is based in Brisbane and reports directly to the Group Chief Executive, with responsibility for shaping and executing Mater's strategic people agenda.
This is an opportunity to lead Mater's people transformation journey - bringing together HR operations, organisational development, workforce planning, safety and wellbeing, and the enterprise strategy office into one cohesive and future-focused portfolio.
You will be instrumental in ensuring Mater's workforce is engaged, capable and inspired to deliver high-quality, compassionate care across its network of hospitals, research institutes and education facilities.

About the Role
As Chief People, Culture and Learning Officer, you will lead a diverse and high-performing team of over 90 FTE with oversight of a $15 million portfolio. You will be responsible for delivering Mater's People, Culture and Learning strategy in alignment with the organisation's goals, overseeing a broad range of functions including HR operations, recruitment, workforce planning, payroll, organisational development, safety, wellbeing, and diversity, equity and inclusion. The role also leads enterprise strategy and transformation and provides strategic advice to the CEO, executive team and Board. You will embed a culture of high performance, inclusion and accountability, while championing key transformation initiatives such as employee engagement and leadership capability development. A crucial aspect of the role involves building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with government, unions, regulators and other key partners. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position plays a vital role in shaping Mater's long-term sustainability and positioning it as an employer of choice.
About You
You are a seasoned HR leader with deep expertise in transformation, people strategy and organisational development. You bring strong commercial acumen, strategic foresight and a genuine passion for delivering impactful workforce outcomes.
You will also bring:

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable)

Minimum 7 years' experience in senior executive HR leadership within complex, multidisciplinary Hospital, Health or Aged Care setttings.

A proven track record of leading strategy, major transformation and workforce initiatives

Strong understanding of labour market and workforce trends, particularly in healthcare, not-for-profit or government sectors
