As a Laboratory Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of practical classes in Biology. You will have the opportunity to inspire undergraduate students' curiosity and interest in the Biological Sciences through the delivery of innovative and exciting practical classes aligned with curriculum objectives. This role offers you the chance to contribute creatively to the design and implementation of innovative laboratory experiences, fostering a collaborative learning environment that supports students' intellectual development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with academic staff to design and develop new experiments and activities for biology practical courses.

  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of Laboratory Technicians, providing training and support to ensure high-quality laboratory experiences.

  • Laboratory Operations: Manage laboratory resources, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.

  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for first-year biology subjects, including communication management and Learning Management System updates.

You are an enthusiastic and experienced laboratory professional with a passion for inspiring students and a commitment to delivering high-quality practical classes in the Biological Sciences.

You may also:

  • Possess a tertiary qualification in science, majoring in Botany, Ecology, Genetics, Zoology, or other biological sciences.

  • Have experience in a technical laboratory role and managing a technical team in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships across diverse groups.

  • Have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex biological and technical problems efficiently.

  • Exhibit good technical writing skills and the ability to provide administrative support.
