Fleet & Operations Centre Lead

Are you a strategic, people-focused leader with a passion for fleet management and operational excellence? The City of Monash is seeking a highly capable Fleet & Operations Centre Lead to oversee the Monash Operations Centre (MOC) and ensure our fleet, plant and supporting infrastructure are safe, efficient, and fit-for-purpose.

Recently refreshed, the position has evolved from its previous title and format, this is a key leadership opportunity to drive innovation, safety, and service delivery excellence in one of Victoria's most dynamic local government environments.

About the Role

You'll be based at the Monash Operations Centre (MOC) and will play a vital part in supporting service delivery across a broad operational portfolio. Reporting to the Manager Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance, you will lead a team responsible for:

• Strategic lifecycle management of fleet, plant, and equipment
• Managing the MOC site and supporting infrastructure
• Leading stores, workshop, warehousing and yard operations
• Delivering key capital and operational projects
• Driving a strong safety and compliance culture
• Coordinating internal and external contractor performance
• Developing and implementing fleet and facility strategies aligned to Council objectives

This role is crucial in supporting frontline teams across the City of Monash, enabling them to deliver high-quality services to our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for fleet, plant and MOC operations
• Lead contract and contractor management, including tender preparation and performance monitoring
• Manage financial performance, budgets and cost efficiencies
• Ensure strong compliance with OHS, HVNL, CoR and environmental standards
• Drive customer-focused service delivery and stakeholder engagement
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on culture, development and accountability

About You

We're looking for a highly motivated, solutions-focused leader who brings:

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, management or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience in fleet, plant, workshop, stores and yard management
• Strong contract management and procurement experience within a compliance-heavy environment
• Ability to engage effectively across a wide range of internal teams and external partners
• Proven capacity to manage change, build capability, and drive continuous improvement
• Current Victorian driver's licence (mandatory)
