About Isaac
Isaac is a 27-year-old man living in River Heads. He's curious, funny, loyal, and neurodiverse. His days are filled with purpose – as a volunteer gardener, gym-goer, fundraiser, swimmer, social media influencer, live music fan, and a much-loved friend, brother, uncle, cousin, and son.
Isaac communicates without using speech and thrives with support that recognises and builds on his strengths, interests, and relationships.
About the Role
Isaac and his team are looking for a highly experienced and skilled support worker with experience in coordination and a background in health or nutrition who is a genuine team player—someone who is driven to make a real difference and committed to helping Isaac feel a deep sense of belonging, connection, and value in his community.
You will:
- Coordinate health and wellbeing activities, appointments, and plans in partnership with Isaac's allied health and medical professionals
- Coordinate healthy food and meal planning, supported by a nutritionist, coordinate shopping, and support Isaac to participate in meal preparation
- Provide direct personal and social support to Isaac at home and in the community
- Encourage and support Isaac's communication using alternative methods
- Engage Isaac in community participation, friendships, recreation, and creative pursuits
- Participate in team meetings, planning, and reporting
- Complete shift notes, track progress, and support data collection via our online systems
About Isaac's Band Pty Ltd
Isaac's Band Pty Ltd is a not-for-profit, family-governed "service for one" that exists solely to support Isaac to live the good life he chooses. We directly employ a team of support workers and coordinate the delivery of support around Isaac's goals and preferences, and life rhythms.
We're a self-managed team—which means each team member has clearly defined roles and responsibilities, shares in decision-making, and contributes to the big picture. We rely on each other—not just to do our own jobs well, but to collaborate and problem solve.
The team receives regular coaching, to help each team member grow in confidence, build skills, and work together effectively to achieve the best outcomes for Isaac and are accountable to the board to whom they provide regular reports on progress.
Why Work With Us?
In Isaac's team, you're not just an employee—you're part of a trusted, values-driven circle working collaboratively toward real outcomes. We provide:
- A clear vision and shared purpose
- A respectful, empowering team culture
- Work that is deeply meaningful and makes a visible difference
- Mentoring and ongoing professional development
- Opportunities to lead small projects and take initiative
- Inclusion in team planning, problem-solving, and improvement
- Recognition, trust, and space to contribute your ideas
- Flexibility and support to succeed in your role
Availability & Hours
We are seeking someone looking for between 20 and 30 hours per week.
You MUST be willing and able to do day shifts AND inactive overnight shifts ANY day of the week. This is essential as we are a small team and we MUST have flexibility to cover for team members if they are sick or on leave.
We are also looking for team members who see themselves in this role for the long haul—at least two years to avoid disruptions in the team.
Pay & Conditions
As this role includes coordination responsibilities, the starting rate is Casual SCHADS Level 3.1 ($48.31 per hour) plus applicable allowances and superannuation. There is also the potential for this role to transition to a permanent position over time.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Cert III in Disability or similar
- Australian resident
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
- Experience with people with autism and/or people who don't use speech to communicate
- Experience in a coordination role
- Experience in planning and preparing nutritious meals
- Confident with computers and following structured processes
- Reliable and dependable – shows up consistently, follows through, and can be counted on by Isaac and the team
- Warm and friendly – brings a genuine, caring presence that helps Isaac feel safe, included, and connected
- Observant and attentive – notices subtle cues and patterns in Isaac's communication, behavior, and health
- Calm and grounded – stays steady and composed, even in uncertain or challenging moments
- Organised and proactive – manages schedules, appointments, and tasks with care and forethought
- Flexible and adaptable – responds well to change, can adjust plans or roles when needed without fuss
- Creative thinker – finds innovative ways to support Isaac's participation, communication, and wellbeing
- Respectful communicator – listens actively, shares ideas constructively, and handles conflict well
- Team player – contributes to group problem-solving, values the strengths of others, and asks for help when needed
- Self-aware and open to growth – reflects on own practice, accepts feedback, and seeks to improve
Core Values
- Person-centredness – puts Isaac's interests, preferences, and rights at the heart of every decision
- Belonging – fosters genuine connection, friendship, and inclusion in community life
- Empowerment – supports Isaac's autonomy, agency, and confidence in his own life
- Respect for diversity – embraces neurodiversity and recognises different ways of thinking, being, and communicating
- Collaboration – shares responsibility, communicates openly, and builds trust within the team
- Commitment to quality – takes pride in doing things well, being thorough, and upholding high standards
- Integrity – does the right thing even when no one is watching; maintains clear ethical boundaries
