Salary Range: $149,739 - $173,174 per annum plus superannuation

About the team
The financial control team manages financial accounting and financial control of business operations to ensure the integrity of accounting records within Department of Customer Service (DCS) portfolio that are consistent with best practice including reporting, internal controls, control frameworks and accounting standards, in relation to financial management to meet financial obligations and ensure compliance.
Your day-to-day
- Manage interim and annual statutory financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (AASB), Treasury guidelines, statutory requirements and DCS policies.
- Analyse, communicate and provide expert technical accounting advice and guidance to senior management, project teams and business partners on financial accounting, contentious matters, the accounting impacts of major organisational activities and complex financial management issues.
- Collaborate effectively with senior executives to ensure accounting/financial aspects of divisional activities including process and practice are conducted in accordance with NSW Treasury policies & guidelines, corporate policies, legal and regulatory policies.
- Develop and implement appropriate policies, systems, processes and controls, providing expert technical interpretation of legislation, accounting policies and standards to ensure compliance with public sector accounting practices, statutory requirements, legislative and organisational policies, Treasury Directions and Audit Office requirements
- Design and develop the appropriate reporting formats, systems and schedules to enable the preparation of the agency's interim and annual financial statements and statutory reports
- Implement NSW Audit Office requirements and recommendations to ensure adequate internal controls with the business units and shared service provider
- Manage tax compliance and reporting to ensure accuracy, probity, compliance and on time delivery.
- Manage banking, cashflow forecasting and appropriation drawdown for DCS portfolio
- Prepare papers and presentations for Audit and Risk Committee
- Continuous improvement on processes
- Lead the financial control function during Machinery of Government
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Demonstrate your experience and advanced financial and project accounting ability.
- You will need to communicate your results to numerous senior executive level stakeholders internally and externally.
- You will be constantly utilising your strong technical ability and business partnering capability and you should thrive on assisting with process improvement across the Department.
- You are a qualified CA or CPA.
This is a unique opportunity to use your experience in a
senior finance role in a large division of the Department to advise and support
senior level executives.
