The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Breakfast Chef to join the team at The Convent Hunter Valley, located in the heart of Pokolbin. You will be an integral part of delivering our personalised and bespoke breakfast dining experience to our guests.

Renowned for its sweeping views, it is the combination of location, architecture and ambience that makes The Convent the most magical place in the Hunter Valley.

With 19 intimate guest-rooms and suites, The Convent offers a range of accommodation options to meet the needs of every guest, each of which has been lovingly crafted to embrace you in the comforts of a grand manor house. A short stroll down the tree-lined driveway is Circa 1876, located in an historic cottage on the picturesque grounds of Roscrea Estate. Circa 1876 quite literally brings the 'farm to fork' ethos to life as guests overlook the organic kitchen garden. Overlooking the Wisteria Courtyard at The Convent, Restaurant Eighty Eight is a more relaxed dining experience.

The role and key duties

  • Curating an unforgettable and personalised experience for our guests from start to finish;
  • Deliver our in-house breakfast menu inspired by local ingredients, prepared utilising creative preparation techniques;
  • Assist in leading the kitchen team to provide a quality and profitable dining experience that is in line with the vision of the restaurant;
  • Lead by example to ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations;
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the overall success of your team and the retreat.

Essential criteria required to be considered

  • 1-2 years experience as a Breakfast Chef (essential);
  • Chef trade qualification (preferred);
  • Team player with a positive attitude;
  • Ability to work across all sections of the kitchen and run your own section;
  • Ability and willingness to commence work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays;
  • Reliable vehicle to get to and from the retreat;
  • A passion for people, food and wine.
