What we're looking for

We are looking for a positive, growth driven and teachable law student to join our Dream Team as a Legal Assistant / Paralegal at our Chermside Office. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has at least 12 months of law firm experience (preferably in family law) and is ready to hit the ground running.

Your Role

You'll work closely with one of our esteemed Family Lawyers, to provide critical support across all aspects of family law, including:

• preparing letters, court documents, and agreements;
• managing disclosure and valuations;
• support your team in preparing for court, mediation and client meetings;
• Proactively managing family law files from start to finish.

What Great Looks Like

At 1 month:

• You'll understand our processes, philosophy, and client challenges.
• You'll begin assisting with letters, court documents and disclosure.
• You will become familiar with our different fixed fee agreements and how to draft them to suit each individual matter and client.
• You will start helping out our clients and interacting with clients via phone and email.

At 3 months:

• You'll confidently communicate with clients and draft documents with ease.
• You'll be experienced in reviewing and indexing disclosure documents.
• You'll proactively manage client files with support from your team.

At 6 months:

• You'll handle complex matters, solving problems proactively, and optimise processes for efficiency.
• You'll manage files end-to end with your solicitor and set clear goals for your continued growth.

Our Hiring Process

• Step 1: Complete pre-interview survey. Based on your answers to the Survey, this will determine whether you are successful in progressing to Step 2.
• Step 2: attend interview with 1 to 2 members of the BFL Team including our practice Director.
• Step 3: You will be advised of the outcome of your interview within two to three weeks.
• We read every application and cover letter and make our best effort to reply to everyone.
