The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Cyber Security Operations function and play a key role in protecting the Department's digital environment.

You'll oversee day-to-day security operations, coordinate responses to cyber incidents, and work closely with technical teams and external partners to strengthen our systems and reduce risk.

About you

You're a confident and experienced cyber security professional who leads by example and brings out the best in your team. You enjoy mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and maintaining high technical standards.

You build strong relationships and work well with people across all levels, using your communication skills to collaborate, influence, and deliver results.

You take ownership of your work, think strategically, and provide expert advice that helps shape decisions and strengthen cyber resilience. Above all, you lead with integrity, value teamwork, and contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace.

Educational Qualifications

Certifications (Preferred, but not essential to have all)

• CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
• Cloud-specific certifications: AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer.
• GIAC certifications (e.g., GCIH, GCIA, GCED).

Special Conditions

• A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
• Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration

ASO8 - $121,107 to $125,679 pa + superannuation
