Patent Assistant

About the Role

As a key member of our Chemistry team, you'll play an essential role in supporting our attorneys with all aspects of patent administration. You'll enjoy a varied and engaging workload with plenty of scope to develop and refine your skills.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing complex case related administration
• Working with the IP Australia and IP Office of New Zealand on-line databases
• Working with our database and template system (including Inprotech)
• Timely and highly organised file management
• Proof reading
• Administrative tasks including filling, scanning, invoicing, organising diaries and making appointments for attorneys
• Drafting correspondence
• Other duties as required

What You Bring

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

• Minimum 3 years' experience (ideally 5 years' plus) working in an Intellectual Property (IP) firm
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-confidence, and an ability to exercise your initiative
• An ability to work in a team and independently
• A respect for established processes and procedures
• A solid knowledge of MS Office and ideally Inprotech

It is desirable that you have:

• Experience with Inprotech
