About the Role

ADG is seeking a strategic and commercially minded Energy Project Director to lead the performance and growth of our embedded energy networks across Darwin, Alice Springs, and Tennant Creek Airports. You will optimise energy infrastructure to enhance capital value, increase net income, and support ADG's goal of achieving net zero airport operations by 2030. this position is based in our Cairns office, however, we're open to this role being based in Darwin for the right candidate.

In this role, you'll develop and execute a five-year strategy for ADG's energy assets, focusing on commercial performance, sustainability, and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, capital planning, and regulatory compliance.

You'll lead feasibility studies for new and upgraded energy infrastructure - including solar and battery projects - manage wholesale energy supply contracts, negotiate customer agreements, and implement real-time performance monitoring systems. A strong focus on ESG initiatives, such as NABERS rating improvements, is also central to this position.

You'll work closely with internal teams across Facilities, Environment, Legal, Finance, and Project Management, and act as project sponsor for new energy initiatives, influencing long-term sustainability and commercial outcomes.

About you

  • Proven experience in energy asset strategy and embedded network management
  • Strong background in feasibility assessments, renewable energy, and contract negotiation
  • Financial acumen and the ability to manage complex, multi-site projects
  • Experience delivering ESG outcomes and implementing energy monitoring systems
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Northern Territory energy market is a plus
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering, energy management, or a related field
  • You're adaptable, results-driven, and passionate about energy innovation and sustainability.
