Job description
As a Chef at M Brothers, you will be responsible for menu creation, preparation of the food, and managing of the staff within the kitchen. This is a hands-on role, requiring innovative cooking skills, attention to detail, and a positive work attitude. Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparation of food

Responsible for periodic changes in the menu and recipes as per seasonal and/or catering requirements

Daily preparation and cooking of food as required
-
Detailed understanding and ability to cater for special dietetic requirements

Ensure meals are produced on time in sufficient quantities available for various areas
-
Maintain stock levels of all kitchen supplies
-
Prepare daily bread/bakery requirements as per the menu
-
Be available for functions as they arise to ensure that the food is prepared and served as required
2. Oversee and supervise junior kitchen staff

Develop procedures for preparation, cooking, and garnishing of dishes as per the menu

Ensure all staff are aware of their duties and what is expected of them
-
Teach new staff skills they require to perform their roles to the required standard
-
Oversee, delegate the work of kitchen staff to ensure all tasks are done as required

Give staff feedback on their performance to enable staff development
-
Ensure any staffing issues are resolved fairly and quickly
-
Enforcing safe food preparation and hygiene standards
3. Manage kitchen stocks

Ensure wastage is minimized by careful supervision of food preparation methods
-
Ensure proper hygienic storage methods are utilized to preserve food quality
-
Oversee the ordering and control of stock levels and kitchen budget control
Technical Qualifications:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
