A Senior Engineer in Transmission and Distribution at Arup leads the design and delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects, ensuring technical quality and compliance with industry standards. You'll provide technical leadership to project teams, mentor junior engineers, and oversee the full project lifecycle. Additionally, you'll support business development and foster strong client relationships to drive innovation in Arup's energy portfolio.

Join our growing technical consulting team working across New Zealand, Australia, and internationally in the energy and renewable power sector. You'll be involved in diverse projects spanning transmission, solar PV, wind (onshore/offshore), battery storage, hydrogen, and pumped hydro. This role offers you the opportunity to lead and deliver cutting-edge renewable energy assignments, from concept through to design.

The Opportunity

  • Lead the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission and distribution projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all project phases.
  • Oversee project management tasks, including resource coordination, scheduling, and quality assurance.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver solutions, and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, bids, and innovative approaches for energy infrastructure projects.

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with eligibility for or possession of professional membership in a recognised institution.
  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in the design, development, and commissioning of high-voltage transmission and distribution systems.
  • Proven proficiency in industry-standard software such as CYMCAP (cable rating analysis), CDEGS (grounding and electromagnetic studies), and PLS-CADD (overhead line design).
  • Strong technical leadership and project management skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, stakeholders, and project partners, ensuring successful project delivery
