Northern Star is seeking a Metallurgist to be part of the KCGM Growth Project Operational Readiness Team for a 12-month secondment. This position involves a hybrid work arrangement, dividing time between the Perth office and KCGM to facilitate engagement with project construction activities and operational stakeholders.

Here's what awaits you:

  • Creation of a fully digitised metallurgical accounting platform using MIPAC MPA software
  • Updating production monitoring with automated outage detection logic
  • Revisions to operator log sheets, data historian tools, and downstream report creation
  • Applying your technical knowledge to create and review training materials
  • Helping to upskill the operations team in preparation for handover

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in gold and hydrometallurgical processing operations.
  • Background in metallurgical accounting, production forecasting, and budget planning.

  • Familiarity with operational technology software, including:

    • Downtime monitoring systems
  • Electronic log sheets
  • PI historian

  • Experience with PI Vision trends/graphics and understanding of PI AF hierarchy (highly regarded)

  • Practical working knowledge of plant process control systems (DCS).

  • Exposure to expert systems such as Manta (advantage).

Qualifications:

  • Degree majoring in Chemistry/Metallurgy from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
