About the role
The Central Sterilisation Supply Department (CSSD), Sunbury campus at Western Health is seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified person to join our leadership team as an Instrument Technician Manager.
The CSSD at Sunshine is responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices in CSSD and the reprocessing of Endoscopes in the DPU.
The Instrument Technician Manager's role will be pivotal in supporting the day to day operations of the department.
You will be required to work a rotating roster, support staff education and quality projects.
This position is directly responsible to the CSSD Manager and the Sterilisation Services Manager.
This is a part-time, ongoing position that will also support other CSSDs when operationally required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for quality projects and data collection and audit outcomes.
- Rostering and allocation.
- Working on the floor with CSSD staff.
- Supporting positive teamwork and upholding WH values at all times.
- Maintaining the CSSD/Endoscopy department and its equipment through validation and following up on equipment issues.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Possess a relevant qualification and relevant clinical experience.
- Demonstrate effective management skills appropriate for a manager's role.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Possess well developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution strategies.
- Possess a knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, policies and human resource procedures.
- Have a commitment to ongoing education and learning.
- Have a willingness to learn and support the CSSD team.
- Have good computer skills.
- Have a commitment to maintaining high quality standards to support safe patient care.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to multitask.
- Be innovative, resourceful and adaptable to change.
- Have endoscopy experience.
