The Role
Reporting to the Head of Business Development, this role will be focused on the development of new greenfield and brownfield projects following acquisition or inclusion in Potentia Energy's development pipeline, with predominant focus on land contracts negotiation and management, through project feasibility analysis (technical and financial) and management of permitting and connection process, supported by Potentia Energy in-house subject matter specialists and external consultants.
This role will be key to advance projects from early stages in preparation for final investment decision or divestment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all relevant project development activities to achieve development and grid connection approval up to final investment decisionof the project.
- Manage the preparation of project development schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate and vet all relevant inputs needed for project evaluations.
- Manage project meetings with the allocated project team across different business units and determine action items and responsibilities.
- Acting as internal focal point for the project and proactively engaging with internal departments such as Strategy and Transactions, Operations, , Legal, Finance and Energy Markets.
- Managing external consultants such as permitting specialists or grid connection advisors to achieve the required development milestones in accordance with approved schedule and budget.
- Develop projects within the regulatory and environmental permitting framework considering Federal, State and Local requirements.
- Proactively update and maintain all key project registers (Risk and Decisions Registers, Stakeholder Register and other Potentia Energy internal documentation) and inform senior management as required while proposing mitigation measures and resolve challenges as these arise.
- Develop, present reports and presentations for Senior/Executive Management team including project performance against approved schedule and budget.
- Actively engage and foster relationships with key project stakeholders, including landowners, local authorities and TNSP/DNSPs and AEMO.
- Coordination of inputs from the Project Team in preparation of Final Investment Decision.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum bachelor's degree qualification in Engineering (preferred), Planning or Environmental.
- 5+ years' experience in project development for utility scale renewable energy projects
- In depth understanding of the regulatory framework pertaining to renewable energy projects.
- In depth understanding of project development stages – from early stage to FID
- Solid understanding of the Australian Energy Market
- Understanding of relevant revenue streams for renewable energy
- Negotiation skills and understanding of relevant agreements related to land access and development services
- Excellent skills in MS Office software especially Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Project.
