Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and neurodiversity-affirming Occupational Therapist to join our team, working predominantly with neurodivergent individuals such as Autistic individuals and those with ADHD. This role focuses on the mental health and psychosocial aspects of occupational therapy, supporting clients to build self-regulation, executive functioning, resilience, and well-being.

This position centres on empowering individuals to participate meaningfully in their daily lives, relationships, and communities. The therapist will work collaboratively with clients, families, and support networks, providing evidence-based, person-centred interventions that celebrate strengths, reduce barriers, and foster long-term growth.

This role will include a blend of clinic-based, community, and telehealth support, providing flexibility in how services are delivered, and it starts at 15.2 hours per week (part-time or casual) with the option to add additional hours (i.e. 22.8 or 30.4) once probation is completed. We are open to offering a flexible working schedule, including working around family commitments such as school.

About Us

At Divergent Health, we are more than an allied health practice, we are a safe, supportive space where neurodivergent individuals and their families are celebrated and empowered. Based in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle region, our team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Creative Arts Therapists provide neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based care tailored to each person's unique strengths and needs.

We believe therapy should be a partnership: collaborative, compassionate, and focused on helping people thrive in the ways that matter most to them. Whether it's building confidence, enhancing communication, strengthening emotional regulation, or supporting everyday living, our mission is to walk alongside clients on their journey.

At Divergent Health, we are committed to creating lasting impact, not just in therapy rooms, but on the broader community-fostering inclusion, advocacy, and genuine belonging.

What You'll Do

Your role will be to provide evidence-based occupational therapy services to NDIS participants and private clients.
This includes:

  • Collaborating with a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
  • Delivering services both in-clinic, online and within the local community.
  • Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, including progress notes, reports, and NDIS-related assessments, in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Empowering clients and their families to achieve their goals through a neuro-affirming approach.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a level one or level two Occupational Therapist who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility to apply).
  • Working With Children Check, National Police Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for neuro-affirming, client-centred care.

We would love it if you have these, but if not, we provide support and training:

  • NDIS experience.
  • Experience working with Neurodivergent Individuals.

What We Offer

At Divergent Health, we focus on flexibility and support; as such, we offer:

  • Work-Life Balance –

Flexible scheduling options to fit around life commitments, e.g. working 10:00 am to 3:00 pm to accommodate the school schedule.
- Flexible Client Base –

Ability to work with a wide range of clients, with diverse needs.
- Career Progression Opportunities –

Option to expand from 15.2 hours per week to 30.4, and pathways into specialisation.
- Supportive Culture –

A collaborative, neurodivergent-friendly workplace where your well-being is valued just as much as your professional growth.
- Community Connection –

Opportunities to engage in advocacy, education, and outreach that make a real difference locally.
- Purpose-Driven Work –

The chance to champion neurodivergent voices and contribute to meaningful systemic change.
- Multidisciplinary Team –

Work alongside Speech Therapists, Art Therapists, Social Workers, and other Occupational Therapists.

You will also receive:

  • Clinical Supervision & Peer Support –

Regular supervision and case discussions to ensure you feel supported, not isolated.
- Professional Development Allowance –

Dedicated budget of $1,000 for development activities such as workshops, training courses, and conferences.
- Therapy Resources –

Access to assessment tools, therapy materials, and administrative support so you can focus on your clients.
- Technology & Remote Support –

Access to digital platforms and resources, plus allowances for remote work needs.
- Leave & Benefits –

For part-time roles, access to annual and sick leave entitlements. For casual roles, casual loading applies.
- Travel Reimbursement –

If travel is needed, we will reimburse for each kilometre.
- Wellbeing & Team Events –
