Adelaide, South Australia Remote Transport Australia Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Remote Transport Australia (RTA) is on the lookout for a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our small team of legends. This role is best suited to someone who's self-motivated, hands-on, has great mechanical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive attitude to take the reins of the RTA workshop. At the moment, the workshop is being run by the owner, but his attention is needed in other parts of the business.

About the Role:

You'll mostly be working on your own, taking care of the servicing, fabrication, and repairs of our trailers, prime movers, and dollies, with a strong focus on Kenworth, Cummins, and CAT engines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, service, and repair Kenworth prime movers and associated equipment
  • Carry out annual trailer and truck servicing
  • Maintain and repair Cummins and CAT engines
  • Rewire trailers and handle electrical fault-finding (not essential – happy to teach)
  • Do fabrication and welding when needed (not essential – happy to teach)
  • Keep on top of preventative maintenance and safety checks
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Fill out service paperwork properly and on time
  • Manage workshop stock and reorder parts when required
  • Use purchase order systems
  • Be available some weekends if the team needs a hand

About You:

  • Trade qualified Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous experience with Kenworth prime movers, Cummins, and CAT engines (preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Trailer rewiring and electrical repair skills (or willing to learn)
  • Welding and fabrication skills are an advantage
  • Committed to safe and quality work
  • Current driver's licence (HR/MC licence handy but not essential)
