The Opportunity:

  • Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment
  • TL $85,644 - $121,462 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Moorabbin Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport

The Engineering Department, based at Moorabbin, offers pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and Certificate IV programs that support the development of skilled professionals across various engineering disciplines. The Certificate II Pre-Apprenticeship program introduces students to foundational engineering skills, while the Certificate III and IV qualifications focus on fabrication and welding, aligned with the demands of the clean energy economy. These programs integrate closely with electrical and renewable energy training to reflect contemporary industry practices and technological advancements.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate teacher to deliver the Certificate II in Engineering Studies (Fabrication Stream) and the Certificate IV in Engineering - Fabrication and AutoCAD Pathway. The Certificate II program offers secondary school students hands-on experience in metal fabrication, engineering design, and workplace safety, equipping them with foundational skills in welding, machining, and the use of lathes, drills, hand tools, and power tools. Strong welding and fabrication expertise is essential to successfully deliver the practical components of this program.

The Certificate IV program is a specialised post-trade course for qualified engineering tradespersons or apprentices, focusing on advanced fabrication techniques and AutoCAD skills to support career progression.

Teaching will include both day and evening classes, providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for a diverse range of students. This is an excellent opportunity to share your industry expertise and inspire the next generation of engineering professionals.

As a Teacher, you will:

  • Develop high-quality teaching resources and assessments across various delivery modes and locations.
  • Collaborate with industry to tailor training solutions and deliver workplace-based education services.
  • Support student success through course advice, inductions, individual learning plans, and progress monitoring.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, professional development, and compliance with VET and Institute stand

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated welding and fabrication experience within an engineering context.
  • Current industry knowledge directly relevant to the training and assessment being delivered, with a particular emphasis on current technology and industry practice.
  • Experience in implementing latest training and assessment strategies to meet student and course requirements.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE 40122 or equivalent predecessor or successor qualifications.
  • Approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications.
  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an 'employee' Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
