About the opportunity:

The InclusionUC team leads initiatives that promote awareness, understanding, and support for neurodivergent students across the university and we are recruiting for a dedicated Neurodiversity Project Officer to join us. This position will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture that values neurodiversity. The Neurodiversity Project Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting programs and resources that enhance the university experience for neurodivergent students. This includes delivering training, advocating for inclusive policies, and collaborating with staff to build capacity and knowledge across the university. Other Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and coordinate peer support programs for neurodivergent students.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to align support services.
  • Create and share resources to support neurodivergent learning and study skills and upskill faculties and business units.
  • Lead projects that promote inclusive practices and address barriers to student success.
  • Facilitate discussions and working groups to promote inclusive education.
  • Develop reasonable adjustment plans to implement necessary supports and adjustments.

About you:

To be considered for this role, you will be a proactive and empathetic professional with a strong commitment to inclusion and equity. You bring experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of neurodiversity. Good communication and collaboration skills will be essential attributes to drive change and building supportive networks. Other requirements, skills and experience for this role will be:

  • Demonstrated experience in inclusion, education, or student support services.
  • Strong understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive practices.
  • Ability to manage projects and deliver outcomes.
  • Capability to work with students one-on-one
  • Experience in either allied health or a teaching background would be advantageous
  • A current Working with Vulnerable People Check (ACT) or willingness to obtain one.
