About the Role

We're looking for a passionate and capable mid-level Ecologist with approximately 3 years consulting experience to join our client's Brisbane or Gold Coast office. You'll be involved in diverse projects across ecological assessments, development approvals, and environmental management for major infrastructure and urban planning initiatives.This is an excellent opportunity to grow in a supportive environment with scope for project ownership and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake field assessments independently across South East Queensland, including flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessments, and environmental constraints mapping.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports to support development applications (DA), operational works (OPW), and ecological management plans.
  • Utilise QGIS to analyse and present ecological data in spatial context.
  • Ensure alignment with relevant State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and planning frameworks.
  • Collaborate with planners, engineers, and other environmental specialists to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Support project delivery including time management, client liaison, and documentation.
What You'll Bring
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecology, Zoology, Botany or a related field.
  • A strong working knowledge of SEQ ecosystems and regional ecology.
  • Proven experience conducting fieldwork in SEQ, ideally with independent planning and delivery capability.
  • Proficiency in QGIS and ecological mapping.
  • Experience preparing ecological reports for DA/OPW applications, monitoring, or management purposes.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work within a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Full work rights.
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Project management (smaller projects).
  • Preparation of proposals and tender responses.
  • Ability to build and nurture positive relationships with clients, regulators, and team members.
