Overview:
CO2 Australia (CO2) is Australia's leading environmental services company and has been delivering projects nation-wide since 2004. We are a wholly Australian-owned environmental services and consultancy dedicated to providing solutions for our clients that maximise positive outcomes and minimise environmental impacts. We believe that the natural environment is critical for future prosperity, and that protecting it requires collaboration, innovation, and bold action. With a generous TOIL policy, and per diem allowance when working away from home, CO2 Australia offers a flexible and exciting career opportunity working across multiple established and emerging environment sectors.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Ecologist to join our team, assisting Senior Ecologists in the delivery of consulting services focused on biodiversity offsets and contributing to carbon and natural capital projects across Queensland and Australia. This role offers a combination of field and office-based work, including supporting field survey programs, data analysis, reporting, and project delivery, as well as opportunities for professional growth and mentoring within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field-based ecological surveys, including Regional Ecosystem verification, BioCondition assessments, threatened species surveys, and weed/pest monitoring.
- Assist with project delivery, including technical input, data management, and report preparation.
- Prepare and maintain field health and safety plans and equipment.
- Undertake regional and interstate travel, including occasional extended overnight stays (10–12 days), approximately 20–30% of working days.
- Support project development, client engagement, and business growth initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of flora and fauna, Queensland ecosystems, and environmental legislation, including biodiversity offset policies.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Environmental Science, or similar. Postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in ecological survey and assessment, including vegetation mapping, plant identification, and BioCondition assessments.
- Experience working across Queensland, including the Brigalow Belt.
- Experience preparing high-quality ecological and environmental reports.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation and offset policies.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork; current driver's licence; advanced MS Office skills
Applications:
We look forward to receiving your application for this position at CO2 Australia. Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for this role and how you meet the key responsibilities and experience, by 5pm, 30 September 2025.
