Ecologist Role Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Ecologist with expertise in botany to take on a key position within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive ecological surveys, data analysis, and report writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diverse ecological surveys including regional ecosystem mapping, BioCondition assessments, threatened species surveys, and weed/pest monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain field health and safety plans, equipment, and digital resources for fieldwork programs.
  • Travel regionally and interstate for fieldwork, involving extended overnight stays.
  • Support consulting projects encompassing ecological surveys, environmental offsets, carbon projects, and environmental co-benefit initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental sciences discipline; post-graduate degree (Honours, Masters, or PhD) highly regarded.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in ecological survey and assessment, including Regional Ecosystem verification, full floristic survey, vegetation mapping, plant identification, and BioCondition assessments.
  • Extensive experience in various Queensland landscapes, including the Brigalow Belt.
  • Ability to contribute to and coordinate ecological surveys and teams.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing environmental management and monitoring programs.
  • Willingness to travel to remote and rugged areas for field assessments.
  • Expertise in preparing high-quality reports, including ecological, management, and environmental assessments.
