Our client, a global leader across sustainable and technology-driven supply chain solutions including contract logistics, warehousing, freight and intermodal has an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced operations manager to take the lead of linehaul operations across Victoria and South Australia. 

The State Linehaul Manager VIC/SA plays a key role in driving operational efficiencies, commercial outcomes and service excellence.

Reporting to the National Operations Manager, Linehaul you will be working with a state-of-the-art fleet of linehaul trucks, to provide FTL and LTL services across Victoria and South Australia while working within a business that is heavily focused on sustainability, innovation, safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Key accountabilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day state-based linehaul operations ensuring compliance with CoR, safety, and operational standards.
  • Lead a multi-site team including Fleet Supervisors and Company Drivers, fostering a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
  • Deliver on P&L accountability, including budgeting, cost control, and managing revenue leakage or cost creep.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiencies through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve KPIs related to safety, DIFOT, labour costs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaborative and sustainable outcomes.
  • Ensure fleet maintenance and availability aligns with delivery schedules and cost expectations.
  • Manage all aspects of leave planning, payroll reporting, training compliance, and team engagement.
  • Proactively support customer expectations and act as an escalation point for service-related matters.

About you:

  • Proven leadership experience in linehaul transport operations or similar logistics environment.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, safety, CoR legislation, and environmental standards.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage budgets, forecasts, and operational P&L.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives and productivity enhancements.
  • Experience in labour management, including rosters, recruitment, industrial relations, and performance coaching.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to utilise operational tools and systems for fleet, payroll, and KPI reporting.
  • Clear and confident communication skills – capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
