About the role
The Youth Officer, Sydney Catholic Youth (SCY) plays a vital role in helping young people encounter Christ and grow in their faith within the Archdiocese of Sydney. Reporting to the Team Leader of Sydney Catholic Youth, you will work closely with colleagues in the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation, to support the implementation of the Archdiocese's vision for youth and young adult evangelisation by coordinating programs, events, and initiatives that inspire and equip the next generation of Catholic leaders.
You will help plan and deliver engaging retreats, workshops, and formation opportunities across schools, parishes, and deaneries located in the southern suburbs of Sydney; mentor and support emerging youth ministry leaders; and connect young people to the wider Church through both in-person and digital engagement. This is a hands-on, dynamic role that combines event coordination, relationship-building, formation, and creativity in service of the mission of the Church.
About You
You are a passionate and faith-filled person who feels called to accompany young people on their journey of discipleship. With a strong understanding of Church teaching and the ability to communicate it in an engaging and relatable way, you are confident presenting to groups and facilitating programs that bring faith to life.
You bring energy, initiative, and creativity to your ministry, and will have confidence in leading formation sessions, coordinating events, or using digital and social media to reach young people where they are. You have the organisational and relational skills to balance hands-on event delivery with thoughtful planning and follow-up, and you work well both independently and as part of a team.
Your faith, professionalism, and commitment to the mission of the Church underpin everything you do.
