SURFACE MAINTENANCE - ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

About the role

This residential position works a 7/7 roster rotating days and nights working 12 hours per shift. The primary purpose of this position is to safely maintain all surface electrical infrastructure contained within the operating areas of the Fosterville Gold Mine in accordance with site and regulatory standards.

Ensures all electrical works undertaken at the Fosterville Gold Mine is completed in accordance with Energy Safe Victoria requirements which includes the Electrical Safety Act 1998, Electrical Safety (General) Regulations 2019 and the minimum requirements of all applicable Australian Standards.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, your duties will include:

  • Undertake all electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repairs within the processing plant and associated site infrastructure.
  • Maintain availability and condition of electrical equipment to a high standard; advising on high-risk electrical equipment conditions detected during condition monitoring, area inspections and PM tasks.
  • Responsible for carrying out new electrical installations and upgrades to existing plant and equipment.
  • Assist the maintenance team to manage the site CMMS (Pronto and Obzervr) by ensuring all plant items details, spares lists, and associated maintenance tasks are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Carry out component change outs in both planned and breakdown situations.
  • Safely perform maintenance tasks undertaken during planned plant and equipment shutdowns.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence
  • Instrumentation Trade certificate or equivalent qualification desirable.
  • Familiarity with mineral processing plants and associated fixed plant maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Safety Act, Installation Regulations and applicable Australian Standards relating to Electrical Installations and Equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Exposure to High Voltage Operating and Switching Systems, Instrumentation, Automation Control and HMI Visualisation Systems desirable
  • WorkSafe High Risk Licences including Forklift, Dogging and Elevated Work Platform.
  • Basic level of proficiency with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (PRONTO and Obzervr)
