About Meercroft:

Meercroft was established in 1889 and we are an autonomous, not for profit organization that provides a Constitution of the Home which is run by a Board of Governance. Meercroft is located at the beautiful bluff precinct in Devonport overlooking the Bass Strait. We provide excellence in the provision of quality permanent and respite care services,  Meercroft is a 140-bed facility with approximately 240 staff and we are undertaking a significant redevelopment of the facility which will be completed in 2027.

About the Role:

If you are passionate about the aged care industry, can perform under pressure, have excellent time management skills and take pride in your work, then we want to hear from you. As a Cook/Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role throughout our facility, maintaining a caring and respectful attitude towards residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff. We are looking for both permanent part time and casual staff in our catering department.

Primary Kitchen Tasks:

  • Perform all kitchen/catering duties according to the task schedule or as directed by the Chef Supervisor.
  • Ensure all kitchen appliances are operated safely and correctly.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, residents, and their families, showing patience, respect, and understanding.
  • Adapt to meet residents' individual preferences and dietary needs.
  • Follow infection control practices to maintain a safe environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience in cooking/catering roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of residents.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
