An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Warnambool Office for the position of Senior Practitioner - Family Law Services
The purpose of this position is to deliver PSCP/POP programs as required by the Family Law Services regionally. The Senior Practitioner FLS works with children and families to identify strengths and difficulties, provide family dispute resolution, counselling, group sessions and practical assistance, facilitate the setting goals to achieve change so that the child or children can have long lasting relationships with both parents, and/or significant people in their lives, after separation.
In doing so, the position will support the OzChild Way behaviours and accountabilities as follows:

Position specific responsibilities
- Provide counselling, mediation, casework, individual and group training to community and therapeutic support utilising a variety of intervention methods.
- Provide a safe, secure and educative environment that establishes and maintains positive child-parent relationships and promotes shared parenting by separated parents.
- Participate in the establishment of a multi-disciplinary approach to individuals and families with attention to links with other child and family services and/or related services.
- Utilise a case management approach which includes intake, assessment, planning, coordination, monitoring and referral mechanisms.
- Engage children and families in interventions that focus on reducing risk and increasing child and family wellbeing.
- Deliver services to children and families in a creative and flexible way. This will also include a hands-on approach to assisting families in the development of parenting skills.
- Link children and families to other support services based on assessment, monitoring service provision and following up on the outcomes for families.
- Case note and administer client files, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and maintained in a confidential and timely manner.
- Manage complex cases to ensure a comprehensive match between assessment and planned interventions.
- Provide assistance with complex cases within the Family Law Services including CCS, providing advice and support to colleagues.
- Provide secondary consultation, as required, to Family Law Services staff, medical practitioners, schools, service providers, and significant others within the family's system to enhance a coordinated approach and seamless service experience for families.
- Develop, plan and implement psycho-education and developmental counselling programs to families, children, individuals experiencing conflictual relationships or family separation.
- Advocate for services and resources required by children and families.
- Keep abreast of relevant theoretical, legislative and policy development.
- Actively participate in reference groups, network meetings or a specific portfolio.
- Assist the FLS Team Leaders in the development of processes and systems to ensure clear referral pathways and integrated service delivery.
- Provide effective supervision to students within both educational and OzChild guidelines.
- Provide consultation and support to team members and actively participate in team meetings, workshops and other meetings as required.
Qualifications required
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related discipline that is recognised in Australia.
- A Post Graduate Certificate in Mediation & conflict resolution or equivalent that is recognised in Australia
- Individual Family Dispute Resolution Registration Number with the Attorney General's Department (AGD) Practitioner Registration Unit. The FDRP must meet the accreditation requirements set out in the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008 and be able to issue section 60I certificates under the Family Law Act 1975.

Screening & Licenses
- Satisfactory safety screening (Police & Working with Children Checks relevant to where OzChild deliver services).
- Must be able to drive, provide and maintain a valid Drivers' Licence and have access to reliable transportation.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in the delivery Family Dispute Resolution, Counselling and Group Facilitation is preferred using appropriate therapeutic approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Family Law Services, in particular post-separation, with skills in the areas of crisis intervention, counselling, case management, assessment and problem solving for individuals and families.
- Demonstrated expertise in working in a range of creative ways and settings with clients who have challenging, and complex needs is strongly preferred.
- Widely trusted and able to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Highly developed ability to provide secondary consultation, advice and training to other professionals.
- Understanding of current service delivery models and the ability to work within such frameworks.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, communication and written skills.
- Highly developed skills in working as part of a team and leading with complex cases.
- Knowledge of Office applications e.g. Word, excel etc.
- Willingness and capacity to work flexible hours.
Mandatory Training
All employees of OzChild are required to complete Mandatory Training and Program Specific training upon commencement of employment and complete refresher training as required
