About the Role:

Location:Sydney or Melbourne

Hours: Full-time, 38 hours, 5 days per week

Status: Permanent

Industrial Instrument:Non award

The Finance Manager oversees financial operations and administrative systems to support the effective and compliant functioning of NDS.

The role supports the Director of Corporate Services and broader leadership team in delivering sound financial reporting, operational efficiencies,

and organisational compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management
  • Oversee payroll coordination with internal and outsourced providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely monthly financial reporting across states and projects.
  • Support budget preparation and monitor financial performance against budget.
  • Prepare documentation for annual audits and manage external auditor relationships.
  • Review and prepare financial acquittals for funding bodies.

Administration and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting obligations (ASIC, ACNC, AEC, ABR).
  • Manage corporate insurance policies including Workers' Compensation.
  • Maintain financial records and reporting for special grant projects.
  • Oversee privacy and data governance as the organisation's Privacy Officer.
  • Ensure administrative policies and procedures are effective and up-to-date.
Operational and Strategic Support
  • Provide advice on financial and operational matters to the Director of Corporate Services and Executive team.
  • Contribute to funding proposals and procurement processes.
  • Prepare papers and reporting for the Audit, Risk and Investment Committee (ARIC) and Board.
Team and Organisational Contribution
  • Lead and develop the finance team.
  • Contribute to organisational systems, process improvements, and policy development.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and audit procedures, payroll, investments, banking, tax, budgeting and legal process within the not-for-profit sector are essential.
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain networks with a range of stakeholders.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including ERPs and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience leading a small team to accomplish organisational objectives.
  • Commitment to the development and maintenance of quality assurance systems
