About the Role
At Portland Aluminium, we're offering a rare and rewarding opportunity to lead a truly holistic approach to workplace health and sustainability. As our Occupational Hygiene and Environment Superintendent, you'll be at the forefront of shaping how environmental stewardship and occupational hygiene intersect — crafting integrated solutions that protect both our people and the planet.

In this role you will be:

- Facilitating the management of ongoing surveillance programs by ensuring that appropriate monitoring of physical and chemical hazards in the work environment is carried out.
- In conjunction with other Portland Environmental Lead Team members, reviewing the plant performance to EPA licence/s, location and corporate requirements.
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant obligations and employer duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) to ensure site compliance, understanding the site Health and Safety issues resolution process as well as the roles and powers of internal and external key stakeholders.
- Maintaining competency in hazard identification and risk assessment processes along with the ability to identify appropriate risk control measures and facilitating access to expert technical information and advice in relation to specific hazards.
- Ensuring the highest level of protection is offered to people by continually evaluating and trialling (where appropriate) new protective equipment as it becomes available on the market.
- Being responsible for the development and implementation of occupational hygiene monitoring programs (e.g. dust, fume, noise, heat stress) across site.
What's on offer

- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene and Environment related fields.
- Strong Hygiene focused Health & Safety related experience, ideally in a heavy industry or industrial environment.
- Knowledge and application of legislative standards to ensure Alcoa's compliance to WHS requirements.
- Risk Based Occupational Hygiene and Environment Management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to lead people in the continuous improvement of Occ Hygiene & Environmental systems, and performance.
- Leader in Auditing, Inspections & Investigations
