Assistant Accountant

Girraween, NSW

The Assistant Accountant will be reporting to the Group Finance Manager and will become fundamentally responsible for the general Finance, accounting and administration functions of The Cordina Group. Supporting the Finance team in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance department. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and related financial support to people throughout the organisation.

To be considered for this position, you will have accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Ideally you will be CPA qualified or close to completion. You will demonstrate commercial acumen and excellent interpersonal skills. Superior knowledge of Excel is a requirement for this position as the company transitions through a system implementation.

The Assistant Accountant's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

· Responsible for all accounting functions for all associated companies

· Weekly and Month end processing,

o   including posting of journals and

o   Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts monthly

· Processing weekly/monthly accruals and prepayments, accurately maintain records of all provisions and accruals

· Produce accurate financial reports to specific deadlines, weekly and monthly

· Compile the group tax, payroll tax, superannuation payments, FBT and BAS. All statutory reporting

· Keep up to date with current accounting standards

· Reconciliations of intercompany transactions

· Analyse costs and overheads, providing analysis and commentary on key variances

· Assist with preparation and analysis of weekly business results

· Reviewing and documenting of finance internal controls, procedures & policies, ensuring that internal controls are in place and adhered to

· Review and check batch payments for accuracy and completeness. Load and authorise batch payments.

· Actively participating in projects such as system integration

Candidate profile:

· Must be CPA Qualified or Part Qualified.

· – 3 years' Experience in similar role

· Advanced excel skills with exposure to ERP system.

· BI report writing skills.

· High degree of accuracy and detail orientated.

· Ability to work under fast-paced environment and under pressure

· Ability to prioritise, with excellent time management skills

· Confident, engaging, and compelling communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to work within a team environment

· High service orientation
