We are currently seeking to recruit a Cyber Security Specialist to join our team in Canberra in a full-time role.
Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Cyber Security Consultant in Canberra (ACT) to work on cyber advisory and assurance projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Develop a streamlined Assessment and Authorisation (A&A) process targeting CASG low to medium risk and standalone systems.
Streamline and simplify the current assessment process while maintaining its integrity and effectiveness.
Review current security policies, risk management plans, and CSAA procedures. Map requirements to ISM, DSPF, PSPF, CSAA and Defence policy highlighting gaps or overlaps.
Design the structured approach used to assess and authorise systems which includes risk assessment techniques, control validation, decision-making criteria, and escalation pathways.
What You'll Bring
Demonstrated experience in developing security assessment, authorisation, and risk management frameworks in government or critical infrastructure. Evidence of previous work aligned with ISM, PSPF, DSPF, or ISO/IEC 27001
Clarity, practicality and scalability of the CASG A&A process proposal, including governance, risk and compliance (GRC).
Proposed timeline, resourcing, milestones, and ability to deliver within agreed timeframes. Evidence of quality assurance and risk management in delivery.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
