Australian Homewares Enterprises is a leader in the home improvement industry, known for quality products and a strong customer focus.

Following recent structural changes and upcoming system enhancements, we are seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to join our dynamic Craigieburn team.

About the Role

This full-time role provides end-to-end accounting support, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager; and, on occasions work with Group Finance Manager, and other departments to maintain smooth accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
  • Manage outgoing and incoming payments.
  • Reconcile accounts, transactions, and statements regularly.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and customer information in the system.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding payments and account queries.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
  • Support system improvements and process enhancements.
  • Ensure period-end processes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports.
  • Provide support to the Finance Manager with ad hoc accounting tasks.

Requirements

.     A Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance

.     Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in transactional accounting and processing
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with auditors

  • Strong awareness of General ledger movements and data integrity

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Australian financial regulations and GST is an advantage.
  • Experience with Pronto ERP or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate initiative.
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of work.
  • Team player, willing to support colleagues across the finance department.
  • Flexibility to assist with staff leave coverage as needed.
