An exciting opportunity is available for a Surgical Fellow to join a busy and dynamic General Surgical Unit in a large metropolitan teaching hospital. The unit comprises eight consultant surgeons with expertise across a broad range of surgical subspecialties, including Colorectal Surgery, Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Complex abdominal hernia with abdominal wall reconstruction and Emergency. The position offers extensive exposure to a diverse operative and endoscopic workload, with opportunities to perform a large number of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies under direct consultant supervision. The successful applicant will work closely with consultants and junior staff in both elective and emergency settings, gaining valuable experience in perioperative management, endoscopy, and acute surgical care.

About you

  • Key Features:
  • Busy 320-bed metropolitan hospital with a high surgical caseload
  • Exposure to a broad range of general surgical conditions
  • Significant hands-on procedural experience
  • Supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary environment
  • On-call roster: approximately 1–2 days per week
  • The Fellow position in General Surgery has a primary responsibility in co-ordinating and performing emergency surgery for acute admissions, with support from Staff Consultant Surgeons.
