What To Expect
As Tesla's Emergency Management and Fire Operations Outreach and Response Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and communities while advancing our mission to accelerate the world to sustainable energy. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will design and implement comprehensive fire safety programs, emergency management initiatives, and outreach strategies—focusing on non-manufacturing operations. This role is pivotal in mitigating fire related risk to provide situational awareness of emerging threats and enhancing response capabilities. You will act as a key coordinator in crises, fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive proactive preparedness, response, and recovery.
Location: Based in Victoria or Sydney (open to NSW and Brisbane applicants also) with frequent regional and international travel (at least 30%+) to support Tesla's expanding global footprint, including US and international sites.
What You'll Do- Collaborate with local teams, site incident management teams, and cross-functional groups (HR, Legal, EH&S, and Operations) to assess and enhance emergency response protocols, emergency and crisis management procedures, and standardized documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including outreach and awareness materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for fire safety and emergency management matters, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities (Australian Fire and Emergency Services Council (AFAC), government agencies, private partners, and local emergency services.
- Provide expert guidance on fire safety regulations, industry best practices, and emergency response frameworks, ensuring Tesla's compliance with local, state, federal regulations, and company guidelines while committing to the highest safety standards.
- Lead training programs, awareness campaigns, and outreach initiatives to empower employees, stakeholders, and communities with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to fire emergencies, special events, and other crises; develop, track, and maintain emergency preparedness, response, and recovery training content, including Tesla product fire department response materials.
- Drive APAC engagement in fire service and emergency management communities through conferences, workshops, and collaborative events; support the development and upkeep of policies, procedures, templates, standards, and documentation for the program.
- Lead efforts to proactively communicate product and facility fire response recommendations, emergency plans, and outreach processes to authorities having jurisdiction; provide situational awareness of emerging risks/threats to office locations, employees, and operations.
- Act as Coordinator to the Incident Commander in life/safety emergencies, coordinating activities across teams and facilitating post-incident reviews to deploy improvement opportunities effectively.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct emergency response exercises, drills, and long-range plans.
- Establish and maintain relationships with government and private agencies involved in disaster planning and safety, interface with local emergency services, company management, employees, and other Tesla Emergency Management Coordinators.
