Job Description

The Role

The Senior Software Engineer – ServiceNow role will be a key member of our BAU team, responsible for solutioning, development and maintenance of the ServiceNow Platform and provide technical guidance to junior developers. You'll play a key role in promoting development best practices and maintaining clear, consistent documentation across the platform.

The Team

The Senior Software Engineer – ServiceNow plays a key role within the Service Management Technology team a skilled and collaborative group of professionals based both onshore and offshore. This team is responsible for

delivering and supporting the capabilities that maintain, enhance, and maximise the value of the ServiceNow platform and its associated reporting. As the technical backbone of SEEK's broader Service Management function, the team is critical to ensuring the platform's stability, scalability, and continuous improvement.

This team operates within the 'Corporate Platforms & Technology Partnering' group, which includes several techni calplatform teams—such as ERP and Service Management—as well as a dedicated Technology Partnering team.Spanning the APAC region, with members located across Australia and Asia, our Corporate Platforms group provides end-to-end capabilities across solution architecture, security, compliance, environment management, release coordination, testing, integration, and governance. The Technology Partnering division complements this by offering strategic consulting, solution development, and program delivery support for Finance, Business Services, and People & Culture functions.

Key Responsibilities

Build

  • Design and implement advanced platform enhancements that improve functionality, user experience, and long-term maintainability.
  • Develop reusable, scalable ServiceNow components and establish development frameworks and coding standards that enhance overall engineering efficiency across the team.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, offering guidance on design decisions, coding standards, and professional development.
  • Improve platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficient.
  • Take ownership of complex incidents and issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and timely resolution to minimise business disruption.
  • Monitor the health and security status of our instances and take necessary preventive actions.
  • Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and other ServiceNow professionals to align solutions with organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities to automate tasks and improve overall development efficiency.

Execute

  • Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling.
  • Validate code changes by executing unit test and end-to-end test
  • Improve quality and engineering discipline and strengthen team capability
  • Strengthen Agile delivery rituals and practices
  • Strengthen secure coding practises and tooling within team
  • Actively communicate with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy
  • Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection
  • Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development
  • Provide operational support duties, including on-call support as per roster
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to define and document the test scenarios.

Support

  • Drive best practices in ServiceNow usage to ensure maximum platform uptime, effective disaster recovery, and strict adherence to compliance requirements — including alignment with SEEK's internal standards, IT general controls, and security policies.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing on the ServiceNow platform.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Application Developer certifications
  • Certified Implementation Specialist Certifications – ITSM / HRSD/ ITOM
  • Experience with Employee Center Portal development, including custom widgets, theming, catalog items, and user experience enhancements.
  • Experience with the NOW Mobile application, including configuration, branding, and extending mobile capabilities
  • Experience performing platform upgrades and cloning activities.
  • Technical Communication & Problem-Solving: Clearly explain complex concepts to diverse audiences while quickly analyzing issues and proposing innovative solutions
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively balance priorities, manage expectations across technology teams, and build strong collaborative relationships
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work successfully in distributed teams and deliver exceptional service to stakeholders
