About the role

  • Perform laboratory testing across Haematology, Morphology, Haemostasis, and Transfusion Medicine, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Manage laboratory equipment, monitor quality control, and ensure adequate supplies to support continuous and reliable diagnostic services.

  • Communicate critical and urgent results promptly to clinicians and relevant departments to support effective patient care.

  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, providing supervision and training to junior staff as required.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development, scientific/educational sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent, with relevant coursework in Haematology and Immunology from a recognised tertiary institution.

  • Recent hands-on experience in Haematology, Haemostasis, and Transfusion Medicine, with working knowledge of laboratory IT systems and workflows.

  • Actively engaged in continuing professional development (CPD), demonstrating a proactive approach to maintaining and advancing professional competence.

  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, adapting confidently to a variety of clinical environments and responsibilities.

  • Strong personal integrity and a demonstrated commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia, reflecting a dedication to compassionate, patient-centred care.

In this role you will be based at St Vincent's hospital, Darlinghurst.
