About the Role

This position works in a multidisciplinary team to provide care and facilitate recovery through the

use of evidence-based treatment approaches to consumers housed at Ravenhall Correctional Centre.

The Mental Health Nurse delivers care within a custodial setting, practicing within a recovery

framework and using sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high

standard of patient care.

Nursing at Forensicare has a strong focus on recovery-oriented health care that meets the needs of

individuals with a mental health diagnosis who have a history of criminal offending or who may be at

risk of offending behaviours.

As an RPN 3, you will:

• Provide comprehensive recovery-orientated assessment and treatment of patients in a custodial setting.
• Formulation and documentation of patient centred Mental Health Recovery Plans.
• Administer and monitor the effects of medication interventions.
• Maintain comprehensive patient focused documentation.
• Participate in the provision of programs to patients/prisoners.
• Develop and maintain a portfolio assisting in the ongoing development of staff and the Unit/Team.
• Delivery of localised tasks specific to the Unit/Team they are working within such as:
• Key nursing care coordination;
• At Risk Assessments;
• Initial Reception Mental Health Screening;
• Provision of individualised and group therapeutic programs.

About You:Holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent and possess current registration with AHPRA.

• Thorough understanding and demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
• Well developed individual leadership skills that incorporate shared values into timely actions.
• Proven ability to promote safe and effective evidence-based nursing care for mentally ill patients to achieve identified individual/group outcomes.
• Proven knowledge, skills and commitment to the use of reflective techniques in the delivery of quality, recovery-focused mental health care.
