Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital
We are seeking applications for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join our Oncology Ward on a permanent full-time or part-time basis.
Supported by the Cancer and Palliative Care Coordinator, as well as, the Clinical Educator, our Ward consists of 30 beds that support Oncology, Haematology and Palliative care.
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager acts as a responsible and effective team member, assists in the overall clinical management of the ward, is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff.
The Position
- Supervises nursing practice of all nursing caregivers taking responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.
- Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.
- Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
- Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.
- Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Manager updates.
- Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.
- Routinely monitors the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations and report abnormalities as required to the required caregiver.
- Systematically evaluates and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions and report significant anomalies promptly.
You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and will demonstrate extensive clinical experience in the Oncology specialty.
You will have well developed analytical and problem-solving skills and knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing. With demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams.
To succeed you will have delegation, planning, organisational and motivational skills, be committed to on-going education and self-directed learning, and effectively communicate and educate patients, family and staff.

We can offer you
- Salary: $113,107 to $116,897 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% superannuation
- Permanent full-time position or 0.8 FTE part-time hours available
Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
