Beaumont&Beaumont are assisting a large Commonwealth Government Department looking for Grants Officers at the APS5 and APS6 levels.

Broadly, the area administers a number of programs that support infrastructure development and deliver a number of the Australian Government's national community infrastructure investment programs. These programs deliver a diverse range of projects of varying value and size, including vital community and sporting infrastructure, open space improvements and other community priorities, to enhance the liveability and amenity in regional communities.

Duties

These roles may be classified as Grant Management Officers (APS5), or Grants Assessment Officers (APS6). However, across either role, you may be required to:

  • Support the team leader (EL1/EL2) to process funding application assessments, milestone payments, variations and other project reporting.
  • Ensure the assessments are carried out with high-quality and strong attention to detail.
  • Undertake more complex resolution of issues as they arise and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Analyse and assess project information against program guidelines and procedural documentation.
  • Make decisions using good judgement, expertise and knowledge, under limited guidance.
  • Ensure decisions are governed by the application of regulations, best practice principles or the agency's operating instructions and procedures.
  • Prepare briefs, correspondence and reports.
  • If required, assist in broader team activities/priorities including setting priorities for the work area, maintain team cohesion, and ensure quality of outputs for the work area.
  • Conduct of risk assessment and risk management activities (as required).
  • Provide quality assurance of teamwork and assist the team in making recommendations to the program delegate.
  • Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Work with team leaders to resolve complex issues and find innovative solutions.
  • Ensure appropriate records are maintained in accordance with the Department's record keeping standards.
  • Assist with other work within the team as required.
  • Apply critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgement working with limited or incomplete information to assess value for money in applications and variations/payment requests being assessed.
  • Monitor project application assessment progress including assessing project progress and completion reports.

Experience

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Prior experience with Grant/Project assessment and Grant/Project Delivery/Management roles
  • Prior experience in Commonwealth Government
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office Suite, including but not limited to OneNote, Outlook, and Sharepoint
