
Legal Policy Advisor, Chambers of the Chief Magistrate

About the role
Key accountabilities include:
- Supporting the provision of high- quality written and verbal advice and evidence-based analysis across a broad range of issues relevant to the Court including legal, policy and operational matters; public policy and administration; governance and communications.
- Supporting the undertaking of legal and policy research and preparation of strategic advice, information and briefings on diverse and complex legal, policy, strategic and operational matters as required to facilitate informed decision making.
- Supporting legislative policy reform within MCV by assessing and determining impacts on courts, preparing responses and developing plans for implementation in consultation with the Strategic Legal Policy Advisor.
- Supporting the Strategic Legal Policy Advisor to effectively pursue, develop and implement strategic priorities within the Chambers of the Chief Magistrate.
- Building and maintaining effective and productive working relationships through consultation and collaboration with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing correspondence, undertaking secretariat functions and project coordination through collaboration with the staff in the Chambers of the Chief Magistrate.

- Tertiary qualification in law is required, including completion of Practical Legal Training (PLT)
- An understanding of the functions and operations of courts is highly desirable.
- You will have demonstrated advisory experience including the delivery of analysis and opinions on complex and technical matters such as legislation, policy and strategy.
