This role will lead our Compliance team to build a culture of compliance and legal excellence.

Are you a dynamic legal professional who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment? Stoddart Group have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Legal & Compliance Manager to join our team and provide an inhouse counsel function to our business. We're seeking an individual who is ready to make a significant impact on the success of the business and play a pivotal role in delivering legal expertise, commercial acumen and support our expansive branch network.

Duties of the role include (but certainly are not limited to):

  • Consult and prepare Stoddart Group commercial contracts, including terms of trade, credit and supplier agreements
  • Mitigate risk within the company and ensure compliance with trade licencing requirements
  • Provide general inhouse legal advice and liaise with external counsel where required
  • Manage and monitor compliance for subcontractor onboarding requirements in support of business product lines and operations
  • Manage and consult on pending matters including public liability and workcover claims where required
  • Strategically plan and position the company for success
  • Lead a small team of hard-working administration professionals that support the Compliance function

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Bachelor of Laws and current practicing certificate
  • Minimum 5 years' PQE
  • Experience within the Residential Construction industry highly desirable
  • Excellent rapport building skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Curious and self-motivated problem-solver with the ability take initiative and find suitable resolution
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proactive, liberal and considered legal approach
