
Payment Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain payment systems including transaction processing, authorization, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Develop integrations with external payment providers, gateways, banks, and fintech partners.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features on time.
- Ensure compliance with payments industry standards and regulations (PCI-DSS, PSD2, ISO 20022, etc.).
- Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following best practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize system performance for high-volume transaction flows.
- Contribute to modernization efforts, moving legacy systems to cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.
- Stay up to date with trends in payments, digital wallets, real-time payments, and open banking.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience in the
payments domain
(e.g., card payments, real-time payments, BNPL, merchant acquiring, or payment gateways). - Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g.,
Java, Kotlin, C#, Python, or Go
). - Experience with
cloud platforms
(AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). - Knowledge of
APIs, REST/GraphQL, and event-driven architectures
(Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.). - Familiarity with
data security and compliance requirements
in financial systems.
Desirable:
- Exposure to
fraud detection systems
or AI/ML-based transaction monitoring. - Experience working in high-availability, high-throughput environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, monitoring, observability).
